Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on the death of Douglas C. Frith, P.C., B.Sc.Phm:
“I was saddened to hear of the passing of Douglas Frith.”
“He will be missed by the people of Sudbury who he served with distinction as Regional Chairman and Alderman before he was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 1980. During his time in Ottawa, he distinguished himself both as a Parliamentarian and as Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.”
“For his service to Canadians, Mr. Frith was honoured with three Queen’s Jubilee Medals and received the Public Service Award in 1988 for his work in the area of pension reform.”
“On behalf of the Government of Canada, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends.”
