OTTAWA, April 2, 2009 – The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced that he has received a letter of resignation from the Honourable Mr. Justice Paul Cosgrove, a supernumerary judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. The resignation is effective immediately.
A recent report to the Minister of Justice from the Canadian Judicial Council recommended Mr. Justice Cosgrove’s removal. In view of the fact that Justice Cosgrove has resigned, there is no further action to be taken.
