TORONTO, ONTARIO, April 7, 2009—The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Labour, today recognized the Royal Bank of Canada for achieving great success in promoting diversity in the workplace. She also unveiled the new look of the Government of Canada’s Racism-Free Workplace Strategy.
“The Royal Bank of Canada has shown leadership in promoting diversity and is a model for employers in Canada,” said Minister Ambrose. “Diversity in the workplace helps ensure that all Canadians can make a strong contribution. Working together, we can ensure that Canada not only makes it through tough times, but also emerges even stronger than before.”
The Royal Bank of Canada has continuously demonstrated its commitment to diversity through extensive initiatives, such as implementing employee resource groups for Aboriginal peoples and members of visible minorities that foster employee engagement, and recruiting Aboriginal peoples through a special diversity recruitment program.
