On April 16, 2009, the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry, announced an automotive research fund to keep the Canadian auto industry competitive and sustainable.
The Automotive Partnership Canada (APC) is a five-year $145-million initiative to support significant, collaborative, industry-driven research and development that benefits the Canadian automotive industry. Proposals funded under this initiative will be led and submitted by researchers at NRC or academia but must be clearly driven by industry needs.
The APC partners include the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), National Research Council of Canada (NRC), Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), and Canada Excellence Research Chairs (CERC) program.
