Prime Minister Stephen Harper expressed his condolences today to the people and communities affected by the earthquake that struck near L’Aquila, Italy early on Monday, April 6.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I share the profound sadness of the people of Italy at this difficult time. Our thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones, and our prayers are with those who are still missing. The deep solidarity of Canada with Italy at this time of national grief reflects the strong friendship and ties between our two countries.
“While the full impact of the earthquake continues to be assessed, Canada stands ready to support the government of Italy should it request international assistance.”
