GATINEAU, QC, Thursday, May 21, 2009 – Public Works and Government Services Canada wishes to advise all motorists that starting Friday, May 22, until November 2009, the Alexandra Bridge’s southbound lane to Ottawa will be closed to vehicular traffic during weeknights from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Please note that the lane will remain open overnight during weekends (Saturday and Sunday nights).
These closures will not affect vehicular traffic on the northbound lane to Gatineau. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected.
There will be no daytime lane closures between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
These lane closures are necessary to allow for the reinforcement of the main piers and the steel structure that are part of the planned rehabilitation of the Alexandra Bridge announced recently by the Government of Canada under its 2009 Economic Action Plan.
Public Works and Government Services Canada apologizes for any inconvenience these lane closures may cause.
