CFB BORDEN, Ont. – Commodore Dan MacKeigan was appointed as the new Commander of the Canadian Forces Recruiting Group (CFRG) at change of command ceremony held today at Canadian Forces Base Borden, Ontario. The ceremony was presided over by the Chief of Military Personnel, Major-General Walter Semianiw.
Reporting to the Chief of Military Personnel, the Commander of CFRG is responsible for attracting valuable new personnel to the Canadian Forces. Over the past five years, CFRG has enrolled more than 12,000 people annually into full and part-time positions in the Canadian Forces
"Commodore MacKeigan will bring his unique skills, knowledge and experiences to this position," said Major-General Semianiw. "His strong leadership and direction will enhance our ongoing recruiting efforts."
"CFRG has been increasing its intake of recruits since 2003 and this past year was another successful one," said Commodore MacKeigan. "We have become more proactive and focused in our recruiting activities and intend to keep building on this success as we move forward."
Commodore MacKeigan assumed this command from Colonel Matthew Overton, who served as the Commander of CFRG since May 2007. Commodore Dan MacKeigan, an Ottawa native, served most recently as Commanding Officer of the Canadian Forces Maritime Warfare Centre in Halifax, N.S.
