Prime Minister Stephen Harper today congratulated the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada for granting 15,000 wishes to Canadian children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.
"Every day across Canada, the Children's Wish Foundation provides something to cheer about for kids and families who are struggling through very difficult times," said the Prime Minister. "For the children who receive their wishes, and for their parents, the opportunity to share in a dream come true is a much needed ray of sunshine. All Canadians should be proud of the Foundation's work."
The Prime Minister met with Justin, an 11-year old from Ottawa who is receiving the 15,000th wish, and who has been diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma. Justin's wish is coming true as he adopts a beautiful rescue dog named Muffie. Muffie will provide Justin with support, encouragement and friendship as he undergoes cancer treatments.
"No child should have to go through what Justin is going through," said the Prime Minister. "He is so very brave, facing such a challenging situation. Thanks to the Children's Wish Foundation, Justin gets a big reason to smile, as have thousands of other kids. And that's a reason for all of us to smile."
