Saint-Henri-de-Taillon, Quebec, May 29, 2009 −The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, today announced the granting of $71,547 in repayable funding to Menuiserie St-Henri for the acquisition of equipment, including a moulding machine and dust extractor. The aim of this project, which will cost as estimated $500,000, is to equip the enterprise with a modern cutting centre that will allow it to improve its productivity and competitiveness, while maintaining some 20 jobs.
Founded in 1984, Menuiserie St-Henri established a division in 2002 that specializes in the manufacture and installation of high-end exterior products such as gazebos, solariums, sun shelters and terraces. Made from natural or torrefied wood, these products are sold exclusively on the Quebec market.
“Supporting entrepreneurs in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean wood processing sector is a key priority for Canada Economic Development. The viability of this industry hinges largely on innovative firms that, like Menuiserie St-Henri, are turning to value-added production as a means of improving their performance. We believe it is important to support projects with the potential to stimulate regional economic recovery and create quality jobs,”explained the Minister of State.
This funding has been awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Business and Regional Growth program, an initiative designed to help enterprises improve their performance, become more competitive and engage in greater innovation in order to facilitate their sustainable growth.
