Today, the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, and the Honourable Vic Toews, President of the Treasury Board and Member of Parliament for Provencher, announced the first projects under the Harper Government's Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program in Manitoba.
" Taking action on the economy is our Government's top priority, " said Minister of State Yelich. " Today, I am proud to be part of a government that delivers such critical investments for our children, families, and communities. "
" Our Government, through Canada's Economic Action Plan, is taking steps to reduce the effects of the economic slowdown, " said Minister Toews. " Our investments in improved recreational facilities will help stimulate the economy, enhance local facilities and services, and contribute to the health and quality of life of people in communities across Canada. "
Federal funding of $603,304 for nine projects is being provided by Western Economic Diversification Canada under the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program.
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, is part of Canada's Economic Action Plan. RInC will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. It will provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
