The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today announced the appointment of a new member of the Board of Directors of PPP Canada (P3C). Arthur William McMackin was appointed as a director for a two-year term.
Mr. McMackin, a retired accountant formerly at the firm KPMG, will help manage and invest the Government's Public-Private Partnerships Fund and will help assess public-private partnership (P3) options for major projects seeking funding from federal infrastructure programs.
"It is a pleasure to announce the appointment of Bill McMackin to PPP Canada's distinguished board," said Minister Flaherty. "With his years of professional and public experience, Mr. McMackin has the depth of understanding to help guide this very important corporation."
P3C is a Crown corporation that was recently established to work with the public and private sectors to support P3s and to encourage the further development of Canada's P3 market.

Arthur William McMackin
Arthur William McMackin currently serves on the Board of Directors of Ganong Bros. Limited, Canada's oldest candy company. Until recently, he served on the Board of Directors of the New Brunswick System Operator, a not-for-profit independent corporation that is responsible for ensuring the reliability of the electrical system in New Brunswick.
Mr. McMackin was a partner and director of the professional services firm KPMG, where his areas of practice included business advisory, income taxation and audits. He is currently the treasurer of the Turnbull Nursing Home Inc. and the Turnbull Home Foundation. His past experience includes President of the Saint John Learning Exchange, the Saint John Human Development Council and Housing Alternatives Inc.
Mr. McMackin attended the University of New Brunswick before entering the accounting profession. He obtained his certified accountant (C.A.) designation in 1964.
