LETHBRIDGE, ALBERTA, June 26, 2009 – Rick Casson, Member of Parliament for Lethbridge, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, today officially opened the Lethbridge Service Canada Centre, which also houses the Service Canada Centre for Youth.
“This wonderful new facility offers more space and allows for a more interactive and welcoming environment to better meet the needs of Lethbridge-area citizens,” said MP Casson.
The Service Canada Centre is designed to enhance access to Government of Canada services in Lethbridge and surrounding areas and is one of over 600 points of service in communities throughout Canada.
Residents of Lethbridge will receive easy, convenient access to a full range of federal government programs and services through this new Service Canada Centre, including passport applications, Social Insurance Numbers, Canada Pension Plan, and Old Age Security, as well as a Service Canada Centre for Youth (SCCY).
SCCYs help youth develop job search skills and provide summer employment opportunities. They also assist employers by offering a simple, free and popular place to advertise job postings so that employers can obtain the best individuals to fill positions.
