SIMCOE COUNTY, ONTARIO, June 3nd, 2009 - Helena Guergis, Minister of State (Status of Women) and Member of Parliament for Simcoe-Grey, announced today the official opening of the Wasaga Beach Service Canada Scheduled Outreach site.
Minister Guergis made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development.
“The Government of Canada is providing more Canadians than ever with greater access to federal programs and services through Service Canada Outreach sites,” said Minister Guergis. “Each day we are helping citizens learn more about what the Government of Canada can do for them.”
Service Canada, in partnership with the Town of Wasaga Beach, now has a Scheduled Outreach Site in the Town Hall at 30 Lewis Street, Wasaga Beach, Ontario. The Town has provided space for knowledgeable and helpful Service Canada staff to provide in-person services to citizens in Wasaga Beach on Wednesdays between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm.
Since the Simcoe County area is identified as having a high population of seniors, opening this site will provide a convenient location for them and other citizens to access service. Service offerings of particular interest to seniors will be provided, such as Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security, in addition to Pleasure Craft Licenses, Employment Insurance Benefits and Social Insurance Numbers.
As part of the Government of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, Service Canada is committed to improving access to services, especially during these challenging times. Service Canada is the Government of Canada’s one-stop service delivery network, giving citizens access to a range of federal services through 1 800 O-Canada (1 800 622-6232), TTY: 1 800 926-9105, online at servicecanada.gc.ca, or in-person services at over 600 points of service in communities throughout Canada.
