GATINEAU, Quebec, July 31, 2009 – Public Works and Government Services Canada wishes to advise all motorists that the Alexandra Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic in both directions from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday night to Friday morning for the month of August 2009.
These closures will not affect pedestrians.
These lane closures are necessary to allow for the reinforcement of the steel structure. This is part of the planned rehabilitation of the Alexandra Bridge announced recently by the Government of Canada under its 2009 Economic Action Plan.
Lanes will remain open between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The schedule may change subject to weather conditions.
Public Works and Government Services Canada apologizes for any inconvenience these lane closures may cause.
