Joint Venture to Encourage Safe Disposal of Expired Marine Flares an Ontario First
"Our government and the OPP share a common goal of helping keep people and property safe," said Canada’s Transport Minister John Baird. "We hope this partnership will encourage Ontarians to replace expired flares with new ones and dispose of their old ones in a way that won’t hurt the environment."
"Recreational marine flares are an important part of safety equipment for your boat. We encourage boaters to use this great opportunity provided by Transport Canada to discard their expired recreational marine flares at their local OPP detachment between August 1 to 8, 2009," said OPP Deputy Commissioner Larry Beechey, Provincial Commander responsible for Traffic and Marine Safety.
Protect the boating environment by taking this opportunity to safely dispose of expired marine flares. Marine flares are for use in emergencies, and need to be replaced after their expiry date.
