Saint-Quentin, New Brunswick
As residents and rodeo fans marked the kick off of the 25th annual Western Festival, the Government of Canada provided an additional reason to celebrate with the announcement of an $850,000 contribution toward the expansion of the Saint-Quentin Cultural Centre and improvements to the festival’s rodeo facility.
The Government of Canada is committed to supporting projects that advance long-term economic opportunities for communities such as Saint-Quentin,” said the Honourable Percy Mockler, Senator for Saint-Léonard, on behalf of the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency). “Through ACOA, our investment will help build and upgrade facilities that will allow the Town of Saint-Quentin to benefit from the economic spin- offs of hosting national and international rodeos and to attract other tourism and cultural activities year-round.”
“We are pleased that this investment by the Government of Canada will enable us to benefit from better facilities and accommodate even more visitors at the rodeo”, said Rino Perron, President of the Western Festival of Saint-Quentin. “This new infrastructure will also be used for other tourist and cultural events throughout the year, which will help to stimulate the local economy.”
The project involves the construction of a new staging area for rodeos and other cultural events as well as upgrades to existing buildings, including the arena.
The Government of Canada is providing $850,000 towards the $2.2 million undertaking through ACOA’s Innovative Communities Fund, which builds on the strengths of communities and provides the tools needed to identify opportunities available for their sustainable economic growth.
