GATINEAU, Quebec, August 27, 2009 – Public Works and Government Services Canada wishes to advise all motorists that the Alexandra Bridge's southbound lane to Ottawa will be closed to vehicular traffic from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29.
These closures will not affect pedestrians or vehicular traffic on the northbound lane to Gatineau.
These lane closures are necessary to allow for the reinforcement of the steel structure. This is part of the planned rehabilitation of the Alexandra Bridge announced recently by the Government of Canada under its 2009 Economic Action Plan.
Lanes will remain open between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The schedule may change due to weather conditions.
Public Works and Government Services Canada apologizes for any inconvenience these lane closures may cause.
