OTTAWA, August 19, 2009 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Shakespeare Pies are warning people with allergies to egg, milk, sulphites and/or soy not to consume Shakespeare meat pies. The affected products contain egg, milk, sulphites and/or soy which are not declared on the label.
The affected products, Shakespeare meat pies, described below, are sold frozen in 5" and 9" sizes. The labels do not bear a lot code, best before date or UPC .
5" Pies
These products have been distributed in Ontario.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to eggs, milk, sulphites and/or soy.
The manufacturer, Shakespeare Pies, Shakespeare, ON , is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
