RIVERSIDE-ALBERT, New Brunswick, August 21, 2009 - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Rob Moore, Member of Parliament (Fundy Royal), today announced funding for the Albert County Exhibition.
This funding will support the 96th annual Albert County Exhibition, which is taking place from September 15 to 20. The county fair will give Riverside-Albert's visitors and residents the opportunity to enjoy activities including a music and dance talent show, agricultural and craft exhibits, and performances by local artists.
"Our Government is pleased to support the Albert County Exhibition, which is an important tradition for the Riverside-Albert community," said Minister Moore. "Events like this play a key role in bringing communities together and are important venues for local artists."
"Bringing people together at events like the Albert County Exhibition is important for building vibrant, healthy, and active communities," said Mr. Rob Moore. "That is why our Government is committed to funding community development and local economic growth."
"The funding the Albert County Exhibition has received from the Government of Canada has allowed us to showcase our local talent to an appreciative audience," said Lisa Parsons, Secretary-Treasurer of the Albert County Exhibition. "It has helped make our small fair a success as we celebrate our 96th year."
The Government of Canada has provided funding of $3,000 through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
