For immediate release
GATINEAU, Quebec, August 19, 2009 – Public Works and Government Services Canada wishes to advise all motorists, pedestrians and cyclists that both the northbound and southbound lanes directly adjacent to the sidewalks of the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge will be closed, in alternating directions, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Thursday, August 20, to Thursday, August 27. The sidewalks will also alternate closing during the same time period.
Please note that all Ottawa-bound lanes and sidewalk will remain open during the morning rush hour, and all Gatineau-bound lanes and sidewalk will remain open during the afternoon rush hour.
These closures are necessary to conduct an overall bridge inspection.
The schedule may change due to inclement weather.
Public Works and Government Services Canada apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
