DARTMOUTH, N.S. - Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) advises the public that the harvesting of bi-valve molluscs, including oysters, clams, mussels, scallops, quahogs and whelks, for recreational or commercial purposes is prohibited until further notice in that portion of Ship Harbour inside a line drawn from grid reference 517327 4957721 (Monk Point) to grid reference 515884 4956744 (Lapstone Point). Refer to map Tangier 11D/15.
Note: When the boundary of an area is expressed in grid references, those grid references are based on the Universal Transverse Mercator Grid system set out on the National Topographic Series Map, Scale 1:50,000 published by the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. (North American Datum 1927)
This closure is due to an increase in levels of diarrhetic shellfish poisoning, DSP.
