Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued the following statement on the 2009 World Acadian Congress:
“I am pleased to send greetings to everyone attending the 2009 World Acadian Congress in the Acadian Peninsula.
“A meeting of this size gives Acadians throughout the world an opportunity to celebrate their culture, traditions and identity together.
“In addition to showcasing the achievements of the larger Acadian community, the Congress features a variety of activities, including performances, kitchen parties, rallies, children's entertainment and craft exhibitions. This major event is sure to be a great success.
“On behalf of the Government of Canada, I congratulate the organizers and volunteers on a job well done, and wish everyone a very memorable Congress.”
