The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the joint statement issued August 31, 2009, by Turkey and Armenia, with Swiss mediation, outlining the next steps toward normalizing their relationship.
“The normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations will not only benefit both nations and their citizens, but also enhance stability, security and development within their turbulent and vital neighbourhood,” said Minister Cannon.
The Minister recently met with Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu in Istanbul, where he stressed the importance of dialogue between Turkey and Armenia.
