OTTAWA (September 24, 2009) - Arthritis may not always dominate the headlines, but it can dominate a person's life. One in six Canadians suffers from some form of arthritis, and for many of these people, pain and reduced mobility are part of their daily existence. Despite the prevalence of this debilitating disease, there is still a lot we don't know about why people develop arthritis. There are even more questions about the best way to treat it. That's why CIHR funds a wide range of arthritis research. The experts below are some of the outstanding health researchers in Canada who are working to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the various forms of arthritis with the support of funding from CIHR .
