OTTAWA–Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will honour the founders of the Trans Canada Trail, Mr. Pierre Camu and Mr. William Pratt, with the unveiling of two commemorative plaques during a ceremony in the Tent Room at Rideau Hall, on Thursday September 24, at 10:00 a.m.
The Governor General and Ms. Valerie Pringle, Chair of the board of the Trans Canada Trail, will briefly speak.
The event will take place in the presence of Mr. Camu and Mrs. Milli Pratt, spouse of the late Mr. William Pratt.
The Trans Canada Trail is a 21 500-kilometre recreational trail winding its way through every province and territory, from the Atlantic to Pacific to Arctic Oceans. When completed, it will be the world's longest recreational trail, linking close to 1 000 communities and over 33 million Canadians.
