The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) announces the availability of $40,000 under its Participant Funding Program to assist groups and individuals to take part in the environmental assessment of the Matoush Exploration Project, located 260 km northeast of Chibougamau, in the Province of Quebec.
To receive funding, successful applicants must participate in the environmental assessment of the project.
Funding applications received by the Agency at the address indicated below by November 2, 2009 will be considered. A funding review committee, independent of the review process, will consider all applications and make recommendations on the allocation of funds.
The Participant Funding Program Guide and the application form are available on the Agency's Web site. Information on the proposed project is also available on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry on the Agency's Web site, under reference number 08-00-46115.
The proponent, Strateco Resource Inc., is proposing to develop an underground uranium exploration ramp and related surface infrastructure (temporary worker change rooms, ramp ventilation machinery and a temporary water treatment facility). Also being proposed is the construction of the ramp portal and related surface infrastructure (garages and mechanical shops).
