OTTAWA, September 2, 2009 - Founded in 1939, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet is the longest continuously operating ballet company in North America. In addition, it has earned and maintains an international reputation for both artistically and technically brilliant performances. Not to mention the RWB School's immense contribution to dance-training excellence that has produced world-class dancers, choreographers, and teachers.
Our Government recognizes the importance of arts and arts training to our communities and to our Canadian identity. Canadians across the country anticipate the continued evolution of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet over the coming decades.
I heartily congratulate members past and present of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet on the company's 70th anniversary, and I wish the company and the school continued success.
