The Honourable Peter Kent, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas), today issued the following statement on the passing of Guillermo Endara, former President of Panama.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I wish to extend my deepest condolences to President Endara’s family and to the people of Panama. President Endara led his country back to democracy in 1989 and put Panama on a path to stability and prosperity.
“Canada’s relationship with Panama is deep and longstanding. We can pay tribute to President Endara’s achievements by continuing to work hard to build a region that is prosperous and secure and a model of democratic governance.”
