Gatineau, Quebec, Friday, October 23, 2009 – Public Works and Government Services Canada wishes to advise all motorists that the Alexandra Bridge’s southbound lane to Ottawa will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, until 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26.
As mentioned in a previous release, the bridge will be completely closed to vehicular traffic in both directions from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. every night from Sunday, October 25 until Thursday, October 29.
These closures will not affect pedestrians.
These lane closures are necessary to allow for the seismic reinforcement of the piers. This is part of the planned rehabilitation of the Alexandra Bridge announced recently by the Government of Canada under its 2009 Economic Action Plan.
The schedule may change due to weather conditions.
