Longueuil, Quebec, October 14, 2009 – Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière–Chutes-de-la-Chaudière, today announced the awarding of $524,500 in repayable funding to Quéfer Inc. under the Community Diversification program to acquire equipment for its Saint-Pie plant.
Quéfer Inc. offers a wide range of services from metal cutting to finishing. Most of its products are produced for the Canadian market. The acquisition of a new metal cutting machine and a press brake will enable Quéfer Inc. to improve its productivity and better compete with Asian manufacturers.
“Canada Economic Development's contribution to Quéfer Inc. is a concrete example of the government's support of companies seeking to improve their productivity. Like many SMEs , Quéfer Inc. has to face the challenge of globalization and engage in diversifying its services and clientele to ensure its viability. We are proud to support this initiative and thus contribute to maintaining and creating jobs in the region,” said Jacques Gourde.
Completion of this project will enable Quéfer Inc. to create some 10 new permanent jobs by January 2011.
