Thanks to an investment by the federal government, the Princess Louise Park Show Centre will soon undergo renovations that will increase its capacity to meet the needs of a growing number of users. Rob Moore, MP for Fundy Royal, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency).
"The Government of Canada, through the Economic Action Plan, is taking steps to reduce the impact of the global recession by investing in initiatives to stimulate local and regional economic activity," said MP Moore. "Our government's investment of more than $87,000 in the Princess Louise Park Show Centre will improve its ability to meet the diverse needs of its clients, as well as continue to attract events from other provinces and the Eastern United States."
As a result of the Government's investment, the Centre will undergo renovations to provide improved spectator seating, enhanced electrical services and fire protection. These upgrades will accommodate the requirements of the increasing number of clients that use the centre to host events including horse shows, 4-H Club achievement days, the National Agility Dog Championships and both the Sussex Holstein Club Show and the annual NB Beef Expo.
"We are very pleased with the support we are receiving from the federal government," said Ralph Cunningham, Chairman of the Board of Directors. "The number of events being held each season and the number of participants per event has grown dramatically. Each group has different needs and these funds will allow us to enhance our facilities for the benefit of existing and future clients."
Funding for this project was provided through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) under the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF). Canada's Economic Action Plan provides $1 billion over two years for the CAF, which will help create jobs and maintain employment in affected communities. In Atlantic Canada, CAF is delivered by ACOA. For more information regarding the CAF application process, community criteria and timelines, visit ACOA's website at www.acoa-apeca.gc.ca.
