Baie Verte, Newfoundland and Labrador
A recreational facility in Baie Verte will receive a new roof thanks to the Government of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence, Minister for the Atlantic Gateway and Minister Responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador today announced an investment of $7,000 to support upgrades to the town’s community centre. The funds are being provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) Program, a major component of the Economic Action Plan.
“The Government of Canada recognizes how important recreational facilities are for Canadian families and communities,” said Minister MacKay. “We are pleased to make this investment through Canada’s Economic Action Plan so that the community centre can continue to play a key role in the overall quality of life for residents of Baie Verte.”
With this funding the Town of Baie Verte will replace the shingles on the roof of the community centre which is primarily used for physical fitness activity.
Canada’s Economic Action Plan is providing $500 million over two years for the RInC program, to support upgrading and renewal of recreational facilities in communities across the country, and encourage increased participation in physical activity and community building.
