OTTAWA–General Stanley McChrystal, Commander ISAF and Commander United States Forces Afghanistan, will be visiting Ottawa this week, during which he will meet with General Walt Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff. This visit is organized as part of General McChrystal’s ongoing program to visit ISAF troop contributing nations and follows an invitation from General Natynczyk. There will be two media events with General McChrystal during his upcoming visit to Ottawa:
Wreath-laying Photo Opportunity
WHAT: Media are invited to a photo opportunity when General McChrystal lays a wreath at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
WHERE: The National War Memorial, at the corner of Elgin and Wellington Streets.
WHEN: 3:00 to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2009.
CDA Institute Speaking Engagement / Media Availability
WHAT: The Conference of Defence Associations (CDA) Institute will host a speaking engagement with General McChrystal, who will speak on "The Road Ahead for Afghanistan."
WHERE: Ballroom, Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel, 1 Rideau Street, Ottawa.
WHEN: 3:45 to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2009.
Media are welcome to attend and must register at the media registration table upon arrival, before 3:30 p.m. A brief media opportunity will follow the speaking engagement.
