OTTAWA—Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Jean-Daniel Lafond will attend a vigil of hope with the public on Friday, January 22, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at La TOHU circus arts centre, 2345 Jarry Street East (corner of Iberville), in Montréal.
Their Excellencies will meet with people who have been affected by the recent earthquake in Haiti and hear their stories.
The event is open to everyone. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and admission will be granted on a first come first serve basis.
The Governor General will also take part in special programming by Canadian broadcasters focussed on helping the Haitian people. The broadcasts will run on Friday, January 22, at 7:00 p.m. (English networks) and at 8:00 p.m. (French networks).
The vigil of hope is made possible through the collaboration of the organizers of "Ensemble pour Haïti" and La TOHU.
