The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), today announced the appointment of Mr. Roger Demers as a member of the Board of Directors.
"With his sound knowledge and expertise in the areas of business and financing, Mr. Demers will further strengthen the Board's work going forward," said Minister Clement. "His contributions will be of great value to the Board as it continues to support the development and growth of Canada's entrepreneurs."
Mr. Demers previously held various positions with the accounting firm Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton. He was responsible for the application of professional standards, recruitment, and staff evaluation and training. He was chair of the business lines committee and partner in charge of financial institutions and the academic sector. Mr. Demers was also partner in charge of client files, professional training, and the design and implementation of management and control systems for manufacturing and distribution firms.
Mr. Demers is a member of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec and an emeritus member of the order's Québec Committee. He completed his chartered accountant training at the Université Laval in 1970.
