OTTAWA – To provide an update on the mission in Afghanistan, the commander of Joint Task Force Afghanistan, Brigadier-General Dan Ménard, will host two separate phone-in teleconferences, one in English followed by one in French, on Friday, February 26, 2010.
What: Brig.-Gen. Ménard will open the teleconference with a statement covering the following topics:
- Progress in achieving the “ring of stability” around Kandahar City;
- US forces deployed as part of Task Force Kandahar;
- Phase II of Operation MOSHTARAK, and the Canadian Forces contribution to the operation as a whole; and
- The focus on Task Force Kandahar’s area of operations this summer by ISAF Regional Command (South).
When Brig.-Gen. Ménard has completed his statement, he will take questions on these topics for about 20 minutes.
