The expanded fitness centre supports the training needs of personnel at CFB Shilo.
Overall Cost: The overall project cost was approximately $16.5 million inclusive of taxes.
Construction Contract: The Government of Canada awarded a construction contract for close to $12.8 million to Bird Construction Company of Winnipeg, Manitoba, through an open, fair, and transparent competition process.
Construction Start Date: Construction began in summer 2008.
Construction Completion Date: Construction was completed in December 2009.
Building Size: The new addition is approximately 4 300 m2.
Special Features: This project involved renovations to the fitness centre at CFB Shilo, and the construction of a two storey extension to the existing facility. This project included a new gym floor with two courts, a four lane indoor running track, general purpose space, and additional washrooms and change rooms.
