Hanley, Saskatchewan
The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced additional Government of Canada support to help the Town of Hanley strengthen economic opportunities in their region.
"The Hanley campground upgrades will attract more campers to our community, and a growth in the tourism industry creates jobs and strengthens the local economy," said Minister Yelich.
The Town of Hanley will upgrade its campground facility by installing electricity in nine more campsites. The addition of the nine sites will attract more campers to the area and result in economic spinoffs within the community, in addition to employment created during installation.
"The Town of Hanley is looking forward to the benefits of the campground upgrades in the coming summer season," said Mayor Marvin Gerbrandt. "Today's funding will expand our community's tourism opportunities for many years to come."
The Government of Canada is investing an additional $17,510 into the campground upgrades, which brings the total federal funding for this project to $30,370. The federal investment is provided through the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) as part of Canada's Economic Action Plan.
CAF will provide $306 million over two years to support impacted western Canadian communities, such as those that are heavily reliant on resource based industries. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the fund in the four western provinces.
