Warren, Manitoba
James Bezan, Member of Parliament for Selkirk - Interlake, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced Government of Canada support to help the Rural Municipality of Woodlands Community Development Corporation strengthen economic opportunities in Warren, Manitoba.
“I’m pleased to announce our Government’s support for the region’s economy,” said MP Bezan. “Investing in the business park will help to ensure that we emerge from this challenging time more prosperous, and stronger than ever.”
Under the project, water lines will be installed to service the business park being developed in Warren. The park will assist in the diversification of the rural economy that is very dependent on agriculture and has faced considerable challenges in recent years.
Federal funding of $125,000 is being provided through the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“In order to sustain our rural communities it is vital to have programs such as the Community Adjustment Fund available for groups to access,” said Gail McDonald, Chairperson Rural Municipality of Woodlands Community Development Corporation. “The Community Development Corporation in the RM of Woodlands is pleased to acknowledge this support to extend water service to the new Warren Business Park. This park will bring new businesses and industry to our community along with new residents adding up to continued sustainable growth.”
A part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) is a two-year, $1 billion national program that will provide an economic stimulus by supporting projects that create jobs and maintain employment in rural communities.
The Fund will provide $306 million over two years to support the most affected western Canadian communities, such as those that are heavily reliant on resource-based industries. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the Fund in the four western provinces.
