Davidson, Saskatchewan
Tom Lukiwiski, MP for Regina-Lumsden-Lake Centre, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced additional federal support to assist in expanding the community camping facilities in Davidson.
"I'm pleased to announce our Government's support for Davidson, as this project will help grow our economy by bringing additional visitors to our community." said MP Lukiwiski.
The additional funding is going towards expanding the campground facilities to accommodate an additional 25 electrical sites. The project also includes improvements to washroom and shower facilities. These renovations will result in greater tourist visitors to the area.
Additional federal funding of $46,044, for a total of $92,088, is being provided under the Community Adjustment Fund. The initial funding of $46,044 was announced in September 2009.
"We are very pleased to have been approved for additional funding under the Community Adjustment Fund for our campground expansion project," said Town Administrator Gary Edom. "This will enable us to construct a top-notch facility which will be enjoyed by many for years to come."
The fund will provide $306 million over two years to support the most affected western Canadian communities, such as those that are heavily reliant on resource-based industries. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the fund in the four western provinces.
