Waldheim Recreation Centre Inc. will move forward with recreation centre upgrades thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada's Economic Action Plan.
" Upgrading the Town of Waldheim's recreation centre will encourage greater participation in physical activity and use of recreational facilities, " said Maurice Vellacott, Member of Parliament for Saskatoon-Wanuskewin, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification.
Funding of $21,314 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada's Economic Action Plan. An investment of $42,629 by the Waldheim Recreation Centre Inc. will be committed, with a total project cost of $63,943.
The recreation centre upgrades will include enhancement of the heating and ventilation systems, adding of a supply room, installing doors and flooring, and expanding the seating capacity. The changes to the facility will improve air quality, reduce operating costs and provide additional seating capacity.
" We are excited with upgrading our facility as this will enhance the recreational opportunities to our citizens as well as assist in maintaining high properly values in and around the Town Waldheim, " said Waldheim Recreation Centre Inc. Board of Directors Chairman Ron Schultz. "In short, there is benefit for all members of our larger community. "
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. It will provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
