VANCOUVER: Like maple syrup, beavers, and red mittens, the romantic vision of a Red-Serge clad Mountie in a broad-brimmed Stetson astride an imposing black horse is quintessentially Canadian.
The internationally acclaimed RCMP Musical Ride appeared at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games cauldron on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at the Jack Poole Plaza in Vancouver at 11:15 am.
Since 1887, the Musical Ride has been dazzling crowds as the troop performs intricate figures and cavalry drills choreographed to music. The Musical Ride is performed by a full troop of thirty-two riders and horses, plus the member in charge. Demanding utmost control, timing and coordination, these movements are formed by individual horses and riders, in two's, four's and eight's at the trot and at the canter.
On Tuesday, the entire troop of 33 horse and riders marched along Canada Place to arrive at the Jack Poole Plaza. The troop lined up in front of the Olympic Flame.
The Musical Ride also performs daily from Wednesday to Sunday over the course of the Olympics. The performances take place at the City of Surrey's 2010 Celebration Site at Holland Park. All performances are free of charge.

The RCMP Musical Ride is performing their complete program at the Surrey 2010 Celebration Site at the Holland until Feb. 28, 2010.
To date nearly ten thousand people have enjoyed this Canadian treasure. With such an overwhelming response for the RCMP Musical Ride, the Surrey 2010 Celebration Site has added additional shows.

• Daily: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday @ 8:00pm
and - Saturday and Sunday @ 3:00 pm and 8:00pm
Additional Shows:
• Wednesday, February 24 at 3:00pm
• Thursday, February 25 at 3:00pm
People who are interested in attending these performances can pick up tickets on the day of the show starting one hour prior to show time from the two Information Booths at the Surrey 2010 Celebration Site.
