OTTAWA—A stamp bearing the likeness of the late Right Honourable Roméo LeBlanc, governor general of Canada from 1995 to 1999, will be unveiled during a ceremony hosted by Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Jean-Daniel Lafond. The event will take place at Rideau Hall, on Friday, February 5, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., in the Ballroom.
The Governor General as well as Ms. Susan Margles, Vice-President of Government Relations and Policy Framework at Canada Post, and Mr. Dominic LeBlanc, son of the late Roméo LeBlanc, will deliver brief remarks.
The Right Honourable Roméo LeBlanc passed away on June 24, 2009. Mr. LeBlanc was born in Memramcook, New Brunswick, in 1927, and was the first governor general from the Maritimes.
