Montréal, Quebec, March 24, 2010 - The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) is pleased to announce it was selected as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers for 2010. This is the first time BDC has received this distinction.
This award is presented by Canada's Best Diversity Employers, a competition managed by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers in partnership with the diversity consulting firm TWI Inc. and BMO Financial Group. Now in its third year, the competition recognizes employers across Canada that have exceptional workplace diversity and inclusiveness programs.
"We are honoured to receive this distinction, which acknowledges BDC's human resource practices and our efforts to create a workplace that is open and welcoming to all segments of the labour force," says Mary Karamanos, Senior Vice-President, Human Resources at BDC. "BDC's commitment to promoting diversity enables us to access the widest pool of talent available and, as a result, our employees better reflect the Canadian reality and can effectively address the business challenges faced by our clients."
After a nation-wide competition, BDC received this award in recognition of the work practices that support women, members of visible minorities, persons with disabilities, Aboriginal peoples and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered/Transsexual (LGBT) peoples.
BDC is Canada's business development bank. From more than 100 offices across the country, BDC promotes entrepreneurship by providing highly tailored financing, venture capital and consulting services to entrepreneurs.
