Ile des Chênes, Manitoba
The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced Government of Canada support to help the Rural Municipality of Ritchot strengthen economic opportunities in Ile des Chênes.
“I am pleased to announce that our government will be providing funding towards a new community centre for the community of Ile des Chênes,” said Minister Toews. “This project is creating jobs for local workers while providing for a facility that will help bring our community together.”
Under the project, the Rural Municipality is building a new community centre in Ile des Chênes. This new facility will have a banquet hall as well as lease space for small business opportunities including enhanced health services.
Federal funding of $2,770,750 is being provided through the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“I want to express our sincere thanks for working for us and with us to make this vision become a reality,” said Bob Stefaniuk, Mayor of the Rural Municipality of Ritchot. “This announcement makes us truly proud of our Federal government and this great country of Canada.”
The Fund will provide $306 million over two years to support the most affected western Canadian communities, such as those that are heavily reliant on resource-based industries. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the Fund in the four western provinces.
