The District of Taylor is moving forward with playground upgrades thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“Investing in these playgrounds will create jobs right here in Taylor, while providing an improved recreational area that local children will enjoy for many years to come,” said the Honourable Jay Hill, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification.
With this investment, the District of Taylor is replacing playground equipment at Minaker Park and constructing a new playground to complete the Community Hub, a complex consisting of Taylor’s community hall, arena, curling rink and pool. Project activities include purchase and installation of equipment, site excavation, drainage preparation and surface finishing.
Funding of $45,000 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“On behalf of the District of Taylor I would like to thank the Recreational Infrastructure Canada program for helping us provide equipment for children to play, a safe place where families can gather, and ultimately a place where the community can interact with each other,” said Troy Gould, Parks & Facilities Director.
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. In total, WD has approved 718 RInC projects that will use all of the funding available in the West. These projects are helping provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
