Winkler, Manitoba
Winkler is moving forward with improvements to its recreational facilities thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“Our Government is supporting City of Winker residents by investing in this new football and soccer field to provide a place for our youth and community members to play organized sports and enjoy the out-of-doors,” said MP Hoeppner. “The government’s investment in this project is an investment in young people – I’m so glad we’re helping create opportunities for kids to learn football and soccer skills and have fun.”
Funding of $28,437 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
This funding will help the City of Winkler to construct a regulation size soccer and football field to serve the growing recreation needs of the city and surrounding area. Winkler previously received $115,062 in RInC funding to upgrade the city’s recreational trail system.
“The City of Winkler is pleased to partner with the Federal Government to create wholesome recreation opportunities for citizens of Winkler and surrounding area,” said Martin Harder, Mayor of the City of Winkler. “This sports field development will contribute to the health and quality of life of our residents.”
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. In total, WD has approved 718 RInC projects that will use all of the funding available in the West. These projects are helping provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
