HALIFAX—The Honourable Beverley J. Oda, Minister of International Cooperation, will host the G8 Development Ministers Meeting in Halifax beginning Tuesday when Minister Oda will address her G8 Ministerial colleagues and their respective delegations at the official opening.
This two-day working meeting is being held in preparation for the upcoming G8 Leaders Summit to be held in late June in Muskoka, Ontario.
Media Accreditation
Media wishing to cover the event must be accredited. Media wishing to be accredited on-site should bring a valid photo ID issued either by a government or by their employer, and a letter of assignment from a recognized media outlet signed by the editor-in-chief or equivalent. Accreditation will be issued at the discretion of the meeting organizers.
Media registration will take place at the Media Centre in the Harbourside Gallery at Pier 21 at the following times:
April 26 Noon - 6:00 p.m. ADT
April 27 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. ADT
April 28 7:30 a.m. - Noon ADT
Official Opening
Media are invited to attend the Opening. There will be a photo opportunity.

Closing News Conference
Minister Oda will chair the closing news conference of the G8 Development Ministers Meeting on Wednesday along with her G8 colleagues. She will deliver a summary of the Meeting, then take questions from the media.

Media outside of Halifax will be able to listen to and participate in the news conference via conference call. Media are asked to call in 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the news conference. The line will open at 11:00 a.m. ADT.
Media on the conference call will have access to the floor sound feed for the news conference; translation will not be available. The moderator will invite media to ask questions.
