OTTAWA – Representatives of the Canadian Navy will be at the National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ) parking lot on Wednesday, April 7th at 10:30 a.m. to be presented with one of three new Naval Display Buses (NDB). This opportunity allows Chief of the Maritime Staff (CMS), Vice-Admiral Dean McFadden, other senior staff and media to view and tour one of the busses.
The Navy took delivery of three new NDB in mid-March. Designed to enhance the Navy’s attraction and recruitment efforts, these three NDB will be assigned to operate in the Ontario, Quebec and Prairie regions, joining the Navy’s other two NDB which were acquired in 2008 and are positioned in Halifax and Esquimalt.
The NDB have been designed to bring the Navy to Canadian communities in order to inform citizens about the employment and educational opportunities offered by the CF and the Navy. While looking to attract and recruit another1100 sailors this fiscal year, the Navy is especially focussed on recruiting personnel into the naval technical trades such as Naval Engineering Officers, Marine Engineers and Naval Electronics Technicians.
The NDB represents a collaborative effort between DND, Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and international and local industries, including Daimler Mercedes-Benz of Germany; Dymtech Engineering Inc of Greely, ON and Southwood Graphics of Mississauga, ON. Proudly presenting the NDB to the Canadian Navy will be representatives of all companies involved.
Interested media are asked to be at the NDHQ parking lot no later than 10:20 a.m. and they will have the opportunity to tour the NDB and talk to those involved with the project.
