The Piney Community Centre is moving forward with recreational improvements thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“Community Centres are the cornerstone of a strong community, and this project will ensure that residents of the Piney area have access to this upgraded facility for many years to come,” said the Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety and Member of Parliament for Provencher, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification.
The funding is being used to replace a wall and the viewing area floor in the curling rink and will upgrade the outdoor community kitchen including new doors, flooring and windows.
Funding of $3,960 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan. The Rural Municipality of Piney is contributing $3,000 this project.
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. In total, Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) has approved 718 RInC projects that will use all of the funding available in the West. These projects are helping provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
